CARSON, Calif. --- The MLS Expansion Priority Draft will take place during the MLS Matchday Live Week 33 pregame show on Sunday.
Representatives from Atlanta United and Minnesota United FC, the two clubs joining the league in 2017, will decide which team holds priority in six different player acquisition methods at 11 a.m. PT. A coin flip will decide which club has the first selection among the six categories with the team’s alternating selections for each subsequent method.
The six player acquisition methods that will be decided upon are as follows:
• 2016 MLS Expansion Draft (Picks 1 & 2)
• 2017 MLS SuperDraft (Picks 1 & 2)
• Allocation Ranking Order (Ranks 1 & 2)
• 2016 Waiver Draft and Re-Entry Draft Ranking (Ranks 21 & 22)
• Discovery Player Ranking (Ranks 21 & 22)
• USL/NASL Player Priority Ranking (Ranks 1 & 2)
