Giovani dos Santos on 2016 campaign: "I think that this is the best season of my career" | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – Giovani dos Santos is having the season of his life with the LA Galaxy.

The 27-year-old Mexican international has been instrumental during his first full season with the Galaxy, notching 14 goals and 12 assists and added another in the club’s 1-0 Western Conference Semifinal first leg victory over the Colorado Rapids last weekend. Dos Santos was also named to Mexico’s roster for their World Cup qualifiers later this month.

As he looks to put the Galaxy into their sixth Western Conference Championship in eight years, he admits that he’s in the form of his life.

"This season has been very good," Dos Santos told Spain’s Sport newspaper. "Physically I am having a great moment, psychologically I have a lot of confidence and also, good things have been happening to me on the field. So I am enjoying this. As a matter of fact, I think this is the best season of my career."

But as for why he’s been so successful, Dos Santos owes it to his ability to settle into the group in Los Angeles after a nomadic career in Europe.

"This has been a year during which on a personal level I have felt very comfortable. And I have worked really hard. And in addition to being in the playoffs with the Galaxy, I got the call from the national team again," he said. "I feel like I have matured. I think it has to do with my age and the fact that I have lived through more experiences, both good and bad.

"And all of those experiences have helped me grow. Now I feel like things are going well and I feel more stable."
