Chris Klein says LA Galaxy expect to name a head coach before the end of 2016 | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. -- LA Galaxy club President Chris Klein confirmed that the Galaxy are expecting to have a head coach in place by the end of 2016.

Speaking in a media teleconference, Klein confirmed that the Galaxy are actively pursuing both internal and external candidates for the head coaching position vacated by Bruce Arena. Pete Vagenas was announced as the club’s general manager on Monday.

The Galaxy’s club president confirmed that the club is considering both internal candidates and external candidates for the position. Klein named only one potential coaching option (Galaxy II head coach Curt Onalfo) while stating that a majority of the candidates will be from Major League Soccer, as well as potentially one, foreign candidate. Klein stated that interviews with prospective candidates will occur shortly, but the Galaxy are expecting to have a coach in place by the end of the year.

“We’re actively preparing for 2017 now,” Klein said. “We know that a head coach has to be integrated into that process and needs to have a voice in that process. The sooner, the better for us, and we expect to have a new coach in place before the new year.”
