CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy head coach Curt Onalfo confirmed on Tuesday that right back Robbie Rogers is not expected to be available to be ready for the start of the MLS regular season.

Rogers, 29, underwent ankle surgery during the offseason and has yet to participate in training on the field during training camp. With Rogers out, Onalfo has turned to Rafael Garcia, who has started both preseason games for the club.

“[Robbie is] still recovering from his ankle surgery,” Onalfo told reporters. “I don’t anticipate him being ready to start the season.”
