The LA Galaxy Academy is taking a pause from their regular season to head to Frisco, Texas for the 2017 Generation adidas Cup Finals.
To get to the finals, the U-16s battled through two grueling rounds of qualifying rounds to win their region. The Galaxy showed their toughness with wins over the San Jose Earthquakes, the Colorado Rapids and the Seattle Sounders. Overall, the Galaxy Academy U-16s went 5-1-0 winning the West Region, clinching their spot in the Generation adidas Cup Finals.
Now in Frisco, the LA Galaxy Academy has been selected to be a part of Group B. The U-16s are accompanied by Sporting Kansas City, Flamengo, and Eintracht Frankfurt.
The team's opening match will be on Friday, April 7 at 12:30 p.m. PT against Sporting Kansas City. Sporting Kansas City enter the finals after going 3-2-1 in qualifiers, finishing third in the Central Region.
Following Sporting KC, the Academy will face Flamengo on April 9. The match will be live streamed starting at 4:15 p.m. PT. To watch, visit lagalaxy.com/academy on match day for the feed.
To close out group play, the U-16s are matched up against another international squad in Eintracht Frankfurt. That match will take place on April 11 at 12:30 p.m. PT.
