CARSON, Calif. – Ex-LA Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez and Pachuca captured the CONCACAF Champions League title with a victory over Tigres UNAL in the CCL Final.

Gonzalez’s Pachuca shutout the high-powered Tigres defense earning a 1-0 win in Wednesday’s decisive second leg at Estadio Hidalgo to capture the title 2-1 on aggregate. The 28-year-old went the distance in the triumph with Franco Jara scoring the lone tally for the Tuzos to seal their victory.

Gonzalez becomes the third American to win the CONCACAF Champions League, joining Jose Francisco Torres and Ventura Alvarado. Pachuca will move on to this winter’s FIFA Club World Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates.
