Bruce Arena reflective after registering 200th career victory | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – Bruce Arena couldn’t help being in a contemplative mood after registering his 200th career victory on Saturday.

The Galaxy’s 2-1 win over Columbus Crew SC gave the Galaxy boss his 200th victory, making him one of two coaches (Sigi Schmid—who was in attendance—being the other) to reach the mark in Major League Soccer. Arena has now registered a record of 200-119-86 in his storied MLS managerial career.

Although Arena said that the honor was more for his family than himself, he got a ltitle sentimental when asked of the achievement postgame.

“At the moment I would say no. But I think when I look back on this it may mean something. As I said out on the field, I think when you win a fair amount of games and you’re coaching it’s because you have good teams and good players,” Arena said. “I think that’s the most important thing. So I never really get all hung up on those things. I know one day it will be important, probably for my grandchildren to read about it. I’m honored. I’m honored to have just coached some great players in this league and that’s the reason why I’ve been able to pile up a few wins along the way.”
