Gyasi Zardes snaps goalless streak as Bruce Arena says the time is now for the LA Galaxy striker to go on a scoring run

FRISCO, Texas -- LA Galaxy striker Gyasi Zardes ended his eight game goalless streak, but you can forgive the 23-year-old for being less than pleased with the performance after the LA Galaxy's 2-1 defeat to FC Dallas.

Starting as the lone striker, Zardes snapped his scoreless drought in the 59th minute by nodding in a Stefan Ishizaki corner past Dallas’ goalkeeper Dan Kennedy. The run itself was vintage Zardes as the 23-year-old wiggled free of a defender to create the space needed to nod the cross down to the far post.

After the match, Zardes was pleased with his second goal of the season, but admitted that the way the Galaxy conceded two goals in the final 15 minutes left him in a sour mood.

"Personally, it's good to get the goal but that's not my main priority,” Zardes told reporters after the loss. “My main priority is the team and getting more than a point on this road trip. It's difficult losing a point like this."

With Robbie Keane (groin strain) and Jose Villarreal (hamstring strain) still dealing with injuries, the Galaxy could use more offensive production from Zardes. After the match, head coach Bruce Arena admitted that the time is now for Zardes to go on a scoring run much like he did in 2014 when he ended the season with 16 goals.

"Let's hope," Arena said. "Let's hope."
