LA Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo confident that he can maintain his winning ways against Vancouver Whitecaps

Back from international duty, LA Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo is determined to keep up his banner run of form against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Penedo appeared in Panama’s friendly victories over Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica before rejoining the Galaxy on Thursday. After two strong performances in Los Canaleros’ Gold Cup tuneups, Penedo was in high spirits when returning to LA.

“I’m happy, representing your country at the national team level is always an honor and I think we needed the results,” Penedo told LA Galaxy Insider. “Fans in Panama were asking for it and the results make us feel at ease in order to continue to work hard. We had some tough games against Trinidad & Tobago and Costa Rica.”

In his first match back from national team duty, Penedo will face a team that he has enjoyed plenty of success against since arriving in MLS back in 2013. The Panamanian goalkeeper is unbeaten in four matches with the Whitecaps, compiling a 3-0-1 record.

Given his success against Vancouver, Penedo is confident that the Galaxy can earn their first win of 2015 on Saturday.

“I think that every game is different, that’s what soccer is all about. Vancouver has started the season on the right foot, we have let several points slip by and we need to start adding points both on the road and at home," Penedo said. "It’s going to be a complicated game, we will be playing on turf, and it’s a field they are familiar with. But we have a great team and we have great players to go up against them head to head.”
