CARSON, Calif. -- Robbie Keane will remain a member of the LA Galaxy for the long haul.
The Galaxy announced on Wednesday that they have signed the 2014 Major League Soccer Most Valuable Player to a contract extension. Per club and MLS policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We’re very pleased Robbie will continue to be a member of the Galaxy in the coming years,” said LA Galaxy Head Coach and General Manager Bruce Arena. “He has been one of the key pieces in our success over the past five seasons. We look forward to even more success with Robbie as a member of our team.”
The 34-year-old has been limited to just seven appearances for the club in 2015 due to a nagging groin injury that cost him eight games early on. Keane is currently away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland. The striker has tallied 55 goals in just 91 league appearances for the Galaxy, and has been an intergral part in three MLS Cup championships since arriving in August 2011.
