LA Galaxy center back Omar Gonzalez was rewarded for a strong defensive performance in the LA Galaxy's 1-1 draw with the New York Red Bulls with a place in MLSsoccer.com's Team of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Throughout the match Gonzalez stifled New York's Bradley Wright-Phillips, winning several key duels that helped render the Englishman ineffective on the night. Joining Gonzalez on the Team of the Week squad is goalkeeper Jamie Penedo who was placed on the team's bench after his three save performance at Red Bull Arena.
Not included was 18-year-old goal scorer Bradford Jamieson IV, but the teenager's brilliant first career MLS goal is up for MLSsoccer.com's Goal of the Week.
