LA Galaxy II face Arizona United SC on Friday to begin two-game road trip

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, April 24, 2014) – The LA Galaxy II (3-1-1, 10 points) will kick off a two-game road swing when it travels to Phoenix, Arizona to take on the Arizona United SC (1-1-0, 3 points) at Peoria Sports Complex on Friday, April 25 at 7:10 p.m. PT. The team will then return to Southern California to face the Orange County Blues FC (1-3-0, 3 points) at Anteater Stadium in Irvine, Calif. on Sunday, April 27 at 4:00 p.m. PT. All of the action will be streamed live via lagalaxy.com.


The LA Galaxy II got back to winning ways after a 3-1 victory over the Orange County Blues FC last Saturday night. Charlie Rugg, Chandler Hoffman and Laurent Courtois all scored for the LA Galaxy’s USL PRO affiliate to improve Los Dos’ record to 3-1-1 in their inaugural campaign.


For their role in LA’s win over Orange County, Galaxy II forward Chandler Hoffman and defender Daniel Steres were named to the USL PRO Team of the Week for the fifth week of the USL PRO season. Additionally, Galaxy II forward Jack McBean and midfielder Rafael Garcia were named as honorable mentions after their strong performance in Saturday’s victory.


Friday’s match marks the first time the Galaxy will meet Arizona United (1-1-0), and the game will serve as Los Dos’ first road match in club history. Led by head coach Michael Dellorusso, Arizona United  sealed their first win in the club’s second-ever match as Arizona forward Jonathan Top found the back of the net in the 85th minute of his team’s 2-1 win over the Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday night at the Peoria Sports Complex.


Sunday’s match against the Blues will be the third time that Galaxy II will face off against their Orange County in USL PRO play. In their first meeting, Galaxy midfielder Kenney Walker scored a goal and recorded an assist as LA Galaxy II defeated the Blues 3-1 in their inaugural match on March 22 in Carson, Calif. Last Saturday, The Blues dropped a 3-1 result in their last encounter against the Galaxy this past Saturday.


The Orange County Blues (1-3-0) will first play against the Harrisburg City Islanders on Thursday, April 24 before they meet the Galaxy on Sunday. The Blues currently sit in eleventh place of the USL PRO standings with three points.
