CARSON, Calif. – Stefan Ishizaki couldn’t help but smile after scoring his first goal of the season.
After a questionable officiating decision stripped Ishizaki of a goal against the Columbus Crew, the Swedish midfielder found the back of the net against the Philadelphia Union as part of a goal fest that saw LA smash the Union, 5-1.
However as happy as Ishizaki was to finally hit the back of the net, the Swede admitted that his play down the flanks against the Union gave him a bit more joy.
“The most important thing was for the team to win but it was nice to finally score,” Ishizaki said. “It’s a confidence booster and that’s going to help but I’m thinking about other parts of the game that I did well like dribbling my left back and making good decisions out there on the field.”
