LA Galaxy host American Red Cross Blood Drive through 20 for Twenty

blood drive

In continuation of LA Galaxy's 20 for Twenty community program, Galaxy staff and fans participated in a game-day blood drive benefitting the American Red Cross on Sunday, August 23rd at StubHub Center.

With over 60 presenting donors, the LA Galaxy blood drive collected 26 pints of blood which directly benefits the demand for blood within Southern California, as all LA Galaxy donations will be processed and utilized locally. With over five million patients in the United States needing blood every year, one pint of blood has the ability to save up to three lives.

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Their blood program started in 1940, under the leadership of Dr. Charles Drew and supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood supply with more than 200,000 blood drives hosted every year.

20 for Twenty is a year-long initiative that will see the implementation of 20 unique community service acts to celebrate the Galaxy’s 20th season in Major League Soccer.
