Bruce Arena warns that "it's going to be very hard to keep our roster" | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. -- LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena did not tip his hand to any specific moves that will be made this offseason on Friday, but he did assert that changes will be made heading into the 2016 campaign.

What exactly the Galaxy can accomplish, however, will be dictated by the league's salary cap.

Arena insisted after the club's defeat to Seattle Sounders FC on Wednesday and following the team's exit interviews two days later that changes will be made to the team heading into the 2016 season. However, what specific changes will be dependent on the Galaxy's freedom to navigate the salary cap.

"In all modern professional leagues, there are economic issues. Our salary cap is as bizarre as any league in the world. That makes it very difficult to maintain a team," Arena told reporters on Friday. "For all you read about all the money available to bring in players, we have a five percent raise in our salary cap which is very low as it is. You don't need to be an engineer to figure that. ... It’s going to be hard to keep our roster."

One player of particular interest is defender Omar Gonzalez who saw his designated player contract paid down with Targeted Allocation Money to free a spot for Giovani dos Santos. Arena insisted that the Galaxy will use the resource to try and keep the defender at StubHub Center.
