Match Report: Jack McBean scores as LA Galaxy II draw San Antonio FC 1-1 at home

LA Galaxy II (2-0-3, 9 pts.) drew against new USL expansion club San Antonio FC (1-0-2, 5 pts.) 1-1 at StubHub Center on Wednesday night behind one goal from Jack McBean.

After missing an opportunity to put home a cross in the box from Denzel Slager just minutes earlier, LA Galaxy II forward and captain Jack McBean put home his next look on a swift cross into the box from Josh Turnley in the 40th minute. The goal, McBean’s fourth of the season, makes him USL’s leading goalscorer (4).

LA controlled much of the game, but conceded a set-piece goal in the 89th minute after committing a foul in their own third. San Antonio’s Carlos Alverez cleaned up the ball into the box, putting the ball in off the top of the bar. It’s the fourth straight game LA Galaxy II Head Coach Curt Onalfo has started the backline of Josh Turnley, Lee Nishanian, Jeffrey Payeras and Nathan Smith. It was the first goal Diop conceded in 2016, in his previous two matches he turned in two clean sheets.

The draw, LA Galaxy II’s third consecutive, allows Los Dos to maintain their unbeaten status in 2016. In 2015 through five games, Los Dos were 1-3-1. Next, LA Galaxy II are at home again to take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 (2-0-1, 7 pts.) on Friday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. For a full LA Galaxy II schedule, visit www.lagalaxy.com/2.
