LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides the Three Things We Learned from the U.S. National Team’s 6-0 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying victory over Honduras in San Jose.

DREAM START BUT NIGHTMARE FINISH FOR SEBASTIAN LLETGET

It was truly a moment to remember for Sebastian Lletget who scored his first international goal in front of a hometown crowd on Friday.

The LA Galaxy midfielder started the rout for the USMNT with his first-ever goal for the national team in the fifth minute. The goal came through a clever pass from Jozy Altidore who found Christian Pulisic behind the Honduran defense, allowing the midfielder to spray the ball across the goalmouth to Lletget lurking at the back post. The goal was a remarkable moment for the 23-year-old midfielder who has plenty of bright days ahead for the USMNT.

Unfortunately for Lletget, he was forced to exit just 18 minutes into the game due to an ankle injury after enduring a hard tackle from a Honduran defender. U.S. Soccer confirmed later that Lletget will undergo a scan to determine the severity of the injury.

CHRISTIAN PULISIC IS MASTERFUL IN VICTORY

Christian Pulisic was utterly brilliant for the U.S. National Team in their demolition of Honduras.

The 18-year-old midfielder from Hershey, PA scored a goal and added a pair of picture-perfect assists providing the offensive engine for the USMNT as they ran rampant over the Hondurans. Pulisic scored just seconds into the second half, but his assists stole the show especially his floated pass to Clint Dempsey on the first of his three goals on the evening.

Ahead of the all-important game in Panama City against Panama on Tuesday, expect the USMNT to continue to lean on their prodigy from Borussia Dortmund.

BRUCE ARENA PUTS THE SMILE BACK ON USA FANS WITH WIN

Bruce Arena has the U.S. National Team back on track to World Cup qualification after their comfortable victory over Honduras at Avaya Stadium.

After Lletget’s opener just minutes into the match, Arena’s squad was off to the races as they furiously pressed the Hondurans throughout the match. In his first World Cup qualifier back in charge of the national team, Arena’s group seemed to rediscover their swagger as they captured the victory.

Arena’s squad now sit in fourth place in the Hexagonal standings just one point behind Panama. The Americans will be able to jump ahead to one of the three guaranteed positions with a win on Tuesday and after Friday’s big win, there will be confidence abound for Arena’s group.
