Giovani dos Santos full of confidence after making historic 100th appearance for Mexico | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – Giovani dos Santos is all smiles after earning his 100th cap for Mexico earlier this week.

The LA Galaxy forward notched his 100th appearance on Tuesday, helping Mexico earn a 1-1 draw with Costa Rica in San Jose. The honor helped dos Santos become just the 12th Mexican player to reach the century mark.

“It was a special game for me. To play my 100th game with the national team was a dream come true,” dos Santos told LA Galaxy Insider. “It’s easy to say that I’ve played 100 games, but that took a lot of dedication, hard work, and discipline. I’m always happy to represent my country.

“It’s an honor to among some of the greatest players in Mexico history. There’s a lot of great players with this many [appearances], and it gives me a lot of pride.”

Dos Santos and his brother Jonathan returned to training on Thursday and will both feature against Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday. As he turns his focus back to the Galaxy, dos Santos is determined to build on his strong showing and start finding the back of the net for Los Angeles.

“I needed to perform well with my national team. I’m happy that it all came at the right moment. I’m ready to play for the team. As a professional, we have to keep up the fight. Right now, I had a good performance with my national team, and that always increases my confidence, so I feel good right now."
