Galaxy II

Preview: LA Galaxy II vs. Sacramento Republic FC

After three home games in seven days, LA Galaxy II head north for a rivalry match with Sacramento Republic FC at 7:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Papa Murphy’s Park in Sacramento (streamed live on LAGalaxy.com/2).

Los Dos get Republic FC for the second time this season, seeking revenge after suffering a 3-2 loss to the Northern California side at StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium earlier this year on June 25. In that match, LA conceded three goals in the opening 20 minutes. They tallied two second-half goals from Justin Dhillon and Adrian Vera, but the comeback ultimately fell short.

Saturday’s match kicks off a four-game home stand for Republic FC, who are 6-2-4 at their Papa Murphy’s Park this season. But, the side has failed to get a home win in their last three outings in Sacramento. Villyan Bijev (8) and Trevin Caesar (7) lead Republic FC in goals; Caesar recorded a goal the last time he faced Galaxy.

LA travels to Sacramento after taking four points in a three game home stand across seven days in Los Angeles. The team has put together its best stretch of play this season, earning more points on this half of the schedule with six games left to play.

They’ve shown strength on the road this season, posting a 4-6-1 record on the road.

“The road has been nice to us. We love traveling on the road,” said LA Galaxy II Head Coach Mike Muñoz after his team’s 1-1 draw with San Antonio FC, their most recent match. I look forward to Sacramento and the California Derby. It’s a great environment and we look forward to continuing to upset teams at their house.”

Muñoz and his side sit eight points off playoff inclusion in 13th place of the USL Western Conference. Of the six games that remain for them, five are on the road. After Saturday, Galaxy II will next ravel to face Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday, Sept. 23.
