Jonathan dos Santos finding his stride for the LA Galaxy after strong showing against Real Salt Lake | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – The adage ‘less is more’ seems to be paying dividends for Jonathan dos Santos.

With 10 games under his belt, the central midfielder is beginning to find his stride with the LA Galaxy. Against Real Salt Lake, dos Santos enjoyed one of his better outings alongside central midfield partner Jermaine Jones as he completed more than 90 percent of his passes – creating a team-high four scoring chances.

Head coach Sigi Schmid credited dos Santos success with his decision to place the Mexican international deeper in midfield, allowing him to use his sublime vision of the game to exploit pockets behind the 10-man Salt Lake defense.

“I thought he was better because he was deeper. We talked before the game about sometimes I think he runs too much,” Schmid said. “He could do more by doing a little less sometimes and finding the right pockets. And I think today he did a pretty good job of finding those pockets and being in closer connection with Jermaine [Jones]. That allowed him to come later into the play and then it’s easier to find passes and play balls in.”

Dos Santos’ midfield partner Jones praised the Mexican star and admitted that things are starting to come together.

“We all know Jona is a good player. I think over the whole game we played a good 90 minutes,” Jones said. “We still need to be able to finish the game.”
