Giovani dos Santos and Jonathan dos Santos look to help Mexico end 2017 on a high in the first of El Tri’s two European friendly contests on Friday.

The Dos Santos’ brothers and Mexico face off against Belgium at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on Friday. Mexico’s match against the fifth-ranked team in the world will be the start of a two-game swing that will end next week in Poland.

"It's a great opportunity for Mexican football to compete with two very high-level national teams," head coach Juan Carlos Osorio said to reporters in Belgium. "The fact that a high percentage of [Belgium's] players are in top six clubs in the Premier League and all have opportunities and play internationally in the Champions League makes them very strong ... They are well coached and a high-level team."

As Mexico ramps up their preparation for next year’s 2018 FIFA World Cup, Osorio believes the games are vital for his squad.

"We've always talked about competition being a fundamental factor for human beings to improve and it's the same in football," said Osorio "[The games are] going to show where we are at and what we need to improve."
