Sigi Schmid provides an update on the LA Galaxy's talks with Ashley Cole and Baggio Husidic

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy is in talks to bring defender Ashley Cole back for a third season with the club according to head coach Sigi Schmid.

The Galaxy boss confirmed that the team is presently trying to bring back their 2017 team defender of the year. Cole, 36, made 29 appearances for the Galaxy last season, tallying a goal and two assists.

“We’re in discussions with Ashley,” Schmid told LA Galaxy Insider. “I can’t really say it is done yet, but we are in discussions.”

Schmid also confirmed that the team is nearing a deal to bring back Baggio Husidic for his fifth season with the Galaxy. Husidic made just 10 appearances for the club in 2017 after missing much of the season due to a broken left fibula.

“We are in discussions with him as well. I believe that Baggio has come out and said he is returning, I don’t want to speak for him,” Schmid said.
