LA Galaxy II exercises 2018 contract option for Jefrey Payeras

LA Galaxy II have picked up the 2018 contract option for 24-year-old defender Jefrey Payeras, the club announced today.

Payeras came on board mid-way through Los Dos’  2017 campaign, signing with the team on Aug. 3, 2017 from Guatemalan side C.S.D. Municipal. He made nine appearances for LA Galaxy II in 2017.

He was also with Los Dos in 2016, spending the season on loan with the club. That year, Payeras was called-in on numerous occasions by the Guatemalan National Team, earning his first national team cap in August 2016 followed by two World Cup Qualifier appearances.

“Jefrey has shown great quality in the two seasons he’s spent with LA Galaxy II,” said LA Galaxy II Head Coach Mike Muñoz. “He established himself as a reliable option again in 2017 and we’re looking forward to that again next season.”

Payeras, born in Hawthorne, Calif., is a former member of the LA Galaxy Academy.
