Sigi Schmid says LA Galaxy are zeroing in on new forward addition

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid says that the Galaxy have targets they are in the mix to bolster their offense for the 2017 season.

Throughout the 2017 campaign, Schmid stated that the club was looking to add a target striker after a frustrating season that saw the team tally just 45 goals last year. A potential new signing will join an offense that will be led by holdovers Romain Alessandrini, Giovani dos Santos, Sebastian Lletget, Ema Boateng, Bradford Jamieson, and Gyasi Zardes.

“We have some players who are in play in that position,” Schmid told LA Galaxy Insider. “I don’t like to talk about it until we get it done, but right now, we’re continuing to get it done and we’re hard at work in that process.”

The Galaxy made their first signing of the offseason on Thursday when they acquired defender Jorgen Skjelvik, formerly of Norwegian giants Rosenberg. With the silly season in full swing, Schmid believes the Galaxy are moving ever closer to more additions.

“We’re in the process,” Schmid said. “We’re getting closer every day with certain things, but hopefully, we’ll be able to put more things in place over the next few days.”
