Giovani dos Santos and Jonathan dos Santos return to the LA Galaxy ahead of first preseason match

TUCSON, Ariz. – Giovani dos Santos returned to the fold with the LA Galaxy on Friday after bagging his first minutes of 2018 with Mexico earlier this week.

Dos Santos started and served as captain for the opening 45 minutes of Mexico’s 1-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in San Antonio on Wednesday. Galaxy teammate Jonathan dos Santos played the final 45 minutes, providing an assist on El Tri’s lone goal of the evening.

Both players resumed full training with the Galaxy on Friday and are expected to be available for the team’s preseason match with Real Salt Lake. The game will be streamed live on Facebook, YouTube, and LAGalaxy.com.

“It’s great to be back with the team again. I got my first 45 minutes of the year with Mexico, and I’m happy to be back with the Galaxy so that I can start well this season,” dos Santos told LA Galaxy Insider. "After not playing for a long time, I felt good during my game with Mexico. It’s always good to have your first minutes with the national team.”

With the Galaxy’s season opener a little more than a month away, dos Santos admits that he’s not yet at full speed, but once March 4 rolls around, the Mexican star pledges to be ready.

“I feel very good," he said. "I’m not 100 percent yet, but for the first two weeks I’ve been working with the team, I feel really good. I know that in March, I’m going to be completely fit and I can’t wait for March."
