Sigi Schmid gives high marks to newcomers Rolf Feltscher and Jorgen Skjelvik in first preseason game

TUCSON, Ariz. – Sigi Schmid got his first look at his newcomers in defense during the Galaxy’s clash with Real Salt Lake last weekend.

The Galaxy’s new faces in the back four, Jorgen Skjelvik and Rolf Feltscher, each went 30 minutes in the team’s 3-1 defeat to Salt Lake at Tucson’s Kino Sports Complex. Both players started with the first group as Schmid divided his team into three segments with each playing 30 minutes apiece.

During their limited action, the two defenders excelled as they held Salt Lake’s attack relatively at bay. Seemingly right at home in the starting lineup, Schmid was impressed with the two defenders.

“The first group did well,” Schmid assessed. “I thought that Rolf showed that he’s a pretty good defender and that he can get forward. Jorgen showed his speed and his ability to get us out of the back with his passing.”
