Match Preview presented Welch's: LA Galaxy to take the field at StubHub Center for the first time in 2018 against NYCFC

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy will take the field at StubHub Center for the first time in 2018 when they face off against New York City FC on Saturday.

The Galaxy play the second match of their preseason calendar this weekend against the Eastern Conference club who have trained at StubHub Center for the better part of the week. Los Angeles opened their preseason last week with a 3-1 defeat to Real Salt Lake.

For head coach Sigi Schmid, the match is another challenge for his squad.

"We're going to play two groups for 45 minutes," head coach Sigi Schmid said. "We're still working on our fitness, so we're sort of playing through the game. We want to see two groups play 45 minutes because we still have some players that we're evaluating and making determinations on.

"We want to be sharp on March 4. With the games that we have coming up for the first team and second team, we hope that a lot of that cohesion can take place."

With the regular season a little less than a month away, the Galaxy believe that Saturday’s match is the next step in their preparations.

“They’ve been pushing us pretty hard this week, but Saturday is a chance to get real minutes in a real game, while still improving our fitness and sharpness before the season.
