CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy are on the rise in the Power Rankings.

Los Angeles opened their campaign with a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Portland Timbers, as Ola Kamara and Romain Alessandrini found the back of the net for the home side. Sigi Schmid’s squad will earn their second straight victory of the season this Sunday when they head to Yankee Stadium to take on New York City FC.

As we start the 2018 campaign, LAGalaxy.com will be looking at the Galaxy’s placement week-to-week in three prominent power rankings.

The Galaxy answered some questions with a good home win, and remember, those weren't a common occurrence last year. If Romain Alessandrini has to sit out for a sustained period with the injury he picked up, LA may be looking to prevent deja vu from setting in.

Start of the second season under Sigi Schmid off to good start yet much work on the defensive side is pending.

There are reasons to be positive about the new-look Galaxy thanks to an opening weekend home win. Ola Kamara showed why LA traded for him and Romain Alessandrini picked up where he left off in 2017. The only problem: Alessandrini came off early with what looks to be a muscle injury.
