Postgame Quote Sheet: LA Galaxy II vs. Phoenix Rising FC

LA GALAXY II HEAD COACH MIKE MUÑOZ

On the team’s performance:
“I’m proud of the guys tonight. It’s a little bit of a broken record in terms of executing the gameplan. I thought the guys were very good in the first half. We were all over them. We created numerous chances, but we are going to live and die by being able to put that first goal away. It’s the final piece of the puzzle that we weren’t able to execute.”

On what was missing in the team’s execution:
“The quality was there, but maybe it was the wrong pass or the wrong run. Maybe the timing was a little bit off, but I thought we were clean tonight. I thought we were crisp. I thought we were dangerous and effective. We just missed that final component.”

On the team’s defensive identity:
“We’re tough to play against. We’re hard to break down. Phoenix barely had any chances. I’m curious to see the number of shots that they had on target. I’m curious to see how many saves Vom Steeg had to make. But unfortunately, when you have a player like Drogba who can make a play like that…what can you say.”

On what he’d like to see against Saint Louis FC:
“I’d like to see the same. There’s no reason to panic. There’s no reason to change. We’re only five games into the season. We just need to put the ball into the back of the net.”

LA GALAXY II MIDFIELDER JULIAN BÜSCHER

On the team’s performance:
“I think the guys stuck to the gameplan. We executed what the coaches wanted. We had chances, we just didn’t put the one in. We didn’t execute our big chances in front of goal. I think our crosses didn’t have enough quality. We have to work on our service. But we were on top of our game so it’s disappointing that we lost the game.”

On the team turning it around for Saint Louis FC on Saturday:
"I think we just have to keep our head up. I think that was a better performance already than the last couple games. There’s a lot of positives in this game. But if you give a quality player a little bit of space, he’s going to use it to put the ball into the net. But we have to keep our heads up. It’s a long week and we need a quick turnaround and just execute the gameplan and I think we’ll have a good chance to win the game.”
