Postgame Quote Sheet: LA Galaxy II vs. Fresno FC | August 9, 2018

Mike Muńoz | August 9, 2018

LA GALAXY II HEAD COACH MIKE MUÑOZ

On last night's performance:
“Great result. Really proud of the guys. They worked extremely hard today. We defended too much in the first half. That was because we were giving the ball away to cheaply. There were technical mistakes that never allowed us to press high up the field. Unfortunately, it made us have to defend deep in the box. But we got to halftime at zeroes, we made a few adjustments and I think we were on the front foot to start the second half. Frank Lopez is a machine up top, he’s in great form right now. So obviously I’m really pleased with the result.”

On the halftime adjustments that were made:
“From a technical standpoint, just making sure that we were more precise in our passing. We used our natural links on the field better. We took care of the ball better. We knew that Fresno was going to open themselves up. We knew that it was a must-win game for them. And we made sure to execute in the final third which we haven’t done in the past couple games.”

On if the team can put a streak together on the back of this game:
"100 percent. The guys are confident. There’s belief. There’s the first team guys who are coming down – they are bought in and they have a great mentality. Bradford Jamieson and Ari Lassiter off the bench, [Justin] Vom Steeg, [Tomas] Hilliard-Arce…so yes, we think we can put a run together for sure.”

LA GALAXY II DEFENDER JOHN REQUEJO

On the result:
“We fought hard. It was a great result at home. We wanted to get the win. We needed this win tonight and everybody fought hard so I think we deserve it.”

On his assist to Frank Lopez’s opening goal:
“Frank likes to hold it up and finds perfect balls. So I knew that if I played it up he would fight for it. And he fought for it and finished.”

On if the team can get a run going:
“We have confidence. We always have confidence. Three games with a new formation, I think we’re getting the hang of it. If we want to get to the playoffs we need to put together a streak so that’s what we’re looking to do.”
