Emiliano Insua sets his goals with the LA Galaxy: "First objective is to win the league"

LOS ANGELES – Emiliano Insua is looking to bring the LA Galaxy back to prominence in his first year with the club.

The Argentine left back made his first appearance in a Galaxy kit in Saturday’s preseason finale playing around 70 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Chicago Fire FC.

“I’m happy that after 2-3 weeks since arriving I felt good. As a team, I think we did a good job, especially in the second half. In the first half, I think they started a little better before we settled in and had a few opportunities of our own. In general terms, it was an acceptable performance and we are ready for the start of the season.”

Insua’s performance has been a long time coming for the defender who has endured a late start to the preseason after dealing with a late arrival to the team and then an injury. After spending 13 years playing across Europe, Insua believes that his new squad is destined for great things in Major League Soccer.

“The first objective is always to win the league, but obviously we have to go step by step,” Insua said. “First is try to make the playoffs and finish top of our Conference, which would then give us a place in next year’s CONCACAF Champions League.”
