The LA Galaxy announced that the organization’s MLS NEXT Pro club will now compete under the name “Ventura County FC” (VCFC) in partnership with Oak Sports Holding. AEG, the LA Galaxy’s ownership group, has retained ownership of the MLS NEXT Pro club, with VCFC’s soccer operations led by the LA Galaxy under the direction of LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz.

Alongside this change, LA Galaxy II Tryouts will now be hosted as MLS NEXT Pro Open Tryouts.

For male players ages 17-25, the MLS NEXT Pro Tryouts provide the opportunity for players to showcase their talents and potentially be discovered for the 2024-25 MLS NEXT Pro seasons. Our tryouts have led to the discovery of players who have gone on to play in both MLS and MLS NEXT Pro.

Full details for the MLS NEXT Pro Tryouts are as follows:

  • Participants must be male and between 17 - 25 years old at the time of tryouts.
  • The tryout will consist of each participant playing in two (2) 60-minute, 11v11 soccer matches to impress the scouting staff. One game per day of the tryout event.
  • The registration fee for one (1) open tryout event is $190.
  • In addition to the registration fee of $190, participants are responsible for all airfare, incurred travel costs, food and transportation to that specific event. Also, note that staff will not help with Visa’s or letters of invitation.
  • Players must come prepared for the tryouts with their own boots, socks, shorts, gloves, shin pads or any other equipment related to their position.
  • You will be provided two (2) numbered t-shirts to wear during your games. You must bring your own shorts/socks.
  • Teams will be constructed randomly according to players preferred positions.
  • Your kickoff times will be emailed to you one week prior to the start of the open tryout date.
  • You must play in the position you register for.
  • If multiple tryouts are open for registrations, no transfers to a different tryout will be allowed.
  • Refunds will only be issued in the event the tryout is canceled.
