Gunnery Sargeant Tomas Velazquez was born and raised in Santa Barbara, CA and enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in July 2013. He attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA. In 2015 he received orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 11.
In 2016, Velazquez deployed with CLB-11 in support of the Western Pacific (WESTPAC) 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, serving as the Assault Amphibious Recovery Vehicle Crew Chief and the Recovery Chief. In 2017, GySgt Velazquez received orders to Recruiting Station, Los Angeles where he is currently serving.
Some of his awards include the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Navy And Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
