LOS ANGELES (Friday, Sept. 29, 2023) – LA Galaxy II today announced that head coach Marcelo Sarvas and the club have parted ways.

“We are grateful to Marcelo for his dedication and contributions to the LA Galaxy over the years,” said LA Galaxy Head Coach and Sporting Director Greg Vanney. “Marcelo is forever Galaxy family and we wish him the very best with the next chapter of his career.”

Sarvas was named head coach of LA Galaxy II on Aug. 26, 2022. In a season and a half as LA Galaxy II’s head coach (2022-23), Sarvas posted a 2-5-1 regular-season record in the USL Championship in 2022 and a 5-17-6 during the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Regular Season.

Sarvas joined the LA Galaxy Academy as an Academy coach in 2020 after previously spending time with the Colorado Rapids Academy (2019-20). The Sao Paulo, Brazil, native, who holds U.S. Soccer Federation “A” and “B” licenses, was named the LA Galaxy Academy U-19 head coach in 2022 after leading the Galaxy Academy U-17s to the Round of 16 of the 2022 Generation adidas Cup and to the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs Round of 32. In three seasons as a player for the LA Galaxy (2012-14), Sarvas helped LA win MLS Cups in 2012 and 2014.

LA Galaxy II have begun the process of identifying a new head coach following Sarvas’ departure.
