LOS ANGELES (Monday, July 16, 2018) – The LA Galaxy (8-7-4, 28 points) are headed back to the east coast this week to face Philadelphia Union (7-9-3, 24 points) on Saturday, July 21 at Talen Energy Stadium. The match will be broadcast live on Spectrum SportsNet and Spectrum Deportes.
The Galaxy enter the week 6th in the MLS Western Conference standings. It’s the first time the Galaxy have been inside the red line since April, getting there with a 3-2 over New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium over the weekend. Two goals in extra-time from Dave Romney and Chris Pontius gave Galaxy the comeback victory as the Galaxy improved their unbeaten streak to six games.
Pontius was named to MLS Team of the Week for his brace in the match, his first Team of the Week selection this season. His first goal was also nominated for MLS Goal of the Week.
As for this weekend’s matchup, the Galaxy are 6-1-3 all-time against Philadelphia. The Galaxy have never lost in Philadelphia, going 2-0-2 in their four contests there. The last time both teams met, they played to a 0-0 draw at StubHub Center.
