Colorado Springs, first-place in the USL Western Conference, will look to avenge the 3-2 loss they suffered against Los Dos on May 4. That loss is the most recent defeat for Colorado Springs; they enter Saturday’s match on a five-game unbeaten streak.

Saturday’s game will pair the USL’s best offense against the league’s best defense.

Switchbacks FC have allowed just seven goals in USL play this year, tied for second fewest in the Western Conference. They are one of three teams in the Western Conference to average less than one goal allowed per game.

On the other end of the spectrum, Los Dos lead the league in goals scored with 27 through 13 games. At the forefront of the attack sits LA Galaxy II captain Jack McBean, who has scored 11 goals in 2016. They are the only team in the USL to average more than two goals per game.

In the two sides’ first meeting of the season, McBean netted his first career hat trick as Los Dos lead 3-0 in the 71st minute. Switchbacks FC made things interesting when they pulled within one goal in extra-time, but LA ultimately closed out the match to seal all three points.

LAST MATCH

Sacramento Republic FC 2 | LA Galaxy II 2: Two goals from each of the Villarreal brothers gave the team a crucial road point in a rematch with their Northern Californian rival. After a scoreless first half and an early second half goal from Sacramento, Los Dos equalized in the 57th minute when Jose Villarreal found room to put in a cross to the box that found the head of his brother, Jaime Villarreal. Villarreal finished the cross from point-blank range to pull LA level. LA Galaxy II kept the pressure on and scored just a minute later in the 58th when Jose Villarreal capitalized on a Republic FC backline mistake, forced a turnover, made a move past the keeper at the top of the box and slotted home the open-net shot to give Los Dos the 2-1 advantage. Sacramento would find an equalizer of their own in the 81st minute, leaving both sides to split the points. Jose Villarrreal was named to USL Team of the Week for his efforts.

Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC 2 | Saint Louis FC 0: It would take just over two minutes for Marty Maybin’s pressure to force a mistake by Saint Louis which left a wide open goal for him to put the Switchbacks up 1-0 in the 3rd minute. Josh Suggs would break down the left side and find Miguel Gonzalez who was able to finish in the bottom far post to give the Switchbacks a 2-0 lead at halftime. The score would hold and Colorado Springs earned its third shutout in five games.
