Match Report: LA Galaxy II forced to settle for 2-2 road draw with Tulsa Roughnecks FC

LA Galaxy II (5-2-8, 23 points) earned a 2-2 draw on the road at ONEOK Stadium against Tulsa Roughnecks FC (2-9-2, 8 points) Friday night. First half goals from Jefrey Payeras and Jack McBean were enough to give the visitors a point.

Galaxy II opened the scoring shortly after the opening whistle via Payeras’ first goal of the season. After Los Dos earned a corner kick, defender Josh Turnley whipped in a delivery that found the central defender, who headed it towards goal with a diving effort for the 1-0 lead.

Los Dos doubled their lead later in the first half through the USL’s leading scorer Jack McBean. The Galaxy II captain scored his 12th goal of the year when he drilled a free kick from just outside the 18 that took a deflection past the Tulsa goalkeeper.

Down 2-0, the hosts responded with a goal just before halftime to cut their deficit in half in controversial fashion. After Sammy Ochoa was fouled at the edge of the area, the referee pointed to the spot and the striker picked himself up and buried a penalty kick past 'keeper Bennett Sneddon

A goal shortly after halftime leveled the score, as a Tulsa corner kick found its way into the back of the net after taking a deflection off of Sneddon and bouncing in.

Galaxy II came close to finding a game-winning goal, but were unable to find the finishing touch for three points on the night. Los Dos came closest when McBean had a shot that was cleared off the line just minutes before the final whistle.

Galaxy II's two goals gave them 29 on the year, the most of any team in USL, while Jack McBean expanded on his USL best 12 goals.

Friday’s game marker the first of two back-to-back matches scheduled with Tulsa Roughnecks FC; the pair will now play each other again â€ªon Friday, June 24 at StubHub Center.
