LA Galaxy II acquire defender Jefrey Payeras on loan

CARSON, Calif. (March 30, 2016) – LA Galaxy II announced today that the club has signed defender Jefrey Payeras, 22, on a season-long loan from Guatemalan side C.S.D. Municipal. Payeras joins ahead of tonight's match against Saint Louis FC at 7:30 p.m. PT at StubHub Center

Payeras, 22, is an alumnus of the LA Galaxy Academy and was born in Hawthorne, Calif. After his time with the Academy, Payeras was signed by Municipal in January 2013 to a five-year deal. Last season, Payeras spent most of the year on loan with Orange County Blues FC where he appeared in nine games, starting all of them. 2016, the fourth year of his deal with Municipal, will be spent in Los Angeles.

Internationally, Payeras collected two caps for the U.S. U-20s in 2013. Payeras has also spent time training with Guatemala’s U-23s, as both his parents were born in the country.

Payeras’ connections with Galaxy run deep; he’s close friends with LA Galaxy Homegrown players Oscar Sorto and Jose Villarreal. In a 2013 interview with LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano, he talked about growing up in LA, his days at the Academy and the move to Guatemala.

Payeras will be available in the team’s evening fixture tonight against Saint Louis FC.

LA Galaxy II are currently 1-0-0 on the season after a 2-0 season opening win over Arizona United SC last Saturday. Tickets for tonight’s home match in the main stadium can be purchased at //www.lagalaxy.com/schedule/2.
