100 days! Just 100 days to go until the CONCACAF Gold Cup

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) announced today – 100 days out from the inaugural match – that the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup field is set with the qualification last night of Nicaragua as the 12th and final participating nation in this year’s continental championship.

Nicaragua defeated Haiti with a global score of 4-3 following a home-and-away series played March 24 and 28, during the FIFA window. Tuesday evening in Managua, the local team scored three goals in the last ten minutes to overcome a 3-1 deficit following the first leg in Haiti.


Nicaragua now joins Group B, alongside tournament host United States, Panama and Martinique. Group B will visit Nashville (July 8), Tampa (July 12) and Cleveland (July 15) for the group stage matches.

The 14th edition of the continental championship will kick off Friday, July 7 at Red Bull Arena in the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area, featuring a Group A match-up of perennial Central American rivals, Honduras and Costa Rica, as well as an encounter between 2000 Gold Cup champion Canada and first-time participant French Guiana. 


Taking place every two years, the CONCACAF Gold Cup is the official national team championship of the region and will feature some of the top players of North and Central America and the Caribbean. Drawing large crowds and millions of television viewers from across the region, the Gold Cup is a celebration of soccer, sportsmanship, and culture.


The 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup is sponsored by Scotiabank, Allstate Insurance Company, Cerveza Modelo, Nike, Post Consumer Brands and Sprint. The tournament will be broadcast nationally on the Univision and FOX family of networks and transmitted on radio in Spanish by Fútbol de Primera Radio Network, and broadcast by television partners in countries around the world.
