Bradford Jamieson IV puts in dynamic performance in Houston: "He's getting better and better"

HOUSTON – Bradford Jamieson IV is steadily making a case to be a regular starter for the LA Galaxy in their final three games of the season.

Jamieson scored his second tally of the season in Wednesday’s 3-3 draw with the Houston Dynamo. In his second start in a row, the talented young striker was a dynamic asset to the team’s attack, as his speed provided the Galaxy with ample opportunities on the counterattack.

“It’s really encouraging to have a coach and coaching staff that are putting a lot of time into me, into all the players really,” Jamieson said. “The coaches have come in and really tried to give time to each player, pick out the good things and the things we need to work on.

“Like I said, every day we’re trying to make strides to perfection. Basically, it’s just been getting minutes and getting more familiar with guys in the high tempo and in those moments where you have no time to think. We have stretches where it looks super fluid, it’s like water, and everyone switches and everyone adjusts. That, and a few of our goals looked like they came straight off the training pitch.”

The youngster was loose from the get-to as his darting far post run helped lead to a Houston own goal that opened the scoring. Brimming with confidence, the Los Angeles native ran at a Dynamo defense that struggled to deal with his creativity and speed.

Jamieson needed just two minutes in the second half to find the back of the net as he ably finished a counterattack spearheaded by Jonathan and Giovani dos Santos.

“He’s doing alright, getting better and better. We’re throwing him in right now. Probably at times it’s a little difficult for him, but he’s a player that’s got potential. I’m happy for him that he got a goal today; even on their own goal he made the run across to the near post so he caused the havoc in there, and I’m happy with how he did.”

With Schmid’s trust secured, Jamieson is determined to close the year strong.

“I think as a team, closing out matches, getting points in games, and keeping our heads up from minute one to minute 95. I think that’s a big thing for finishing this season and starting next season, the unity for our team. We have a lot of great guys, so as a team I just want us to solidify our trust in each other.

“We have it, we have it in us, so it’s just making it a split-second thought in our heads. And personally, just to get numbers on the board and increase my confidence on and off the pitch.”
