LA Galaxy II Postgame Quote Sheet: LA Galaxy II 1, Tulsa Roughnecks FC 0

LA GALAXY II HEAD COACH MIKE MUÑOZ

On how the team came out in the match:
“We set out with a different gameplan today. We wanted to be a little bit deeper in our block. We felt that we could hurt them on the counter in transition. We felt that the set up was there for the taking. Obviously we were able to get the first goal off a set piece, which we thought was another area where we’d be able to exploit them. The importance of getting that first goal was crucial. In terms of how things played out tonight, it was all we needed.

On the team’s performance defensively:
“Anytime you can get a shutout and build off the momentum from last week…we’ve talked about not conceding as many goals, but just in terms of the overall performance, it was probably our worst performance of the season. Soccer is funny like that and we were able to grab a 1-0 result.

On his approach with the team ahead of another home match next weekend:
“The message is going to remain consistent in terms of being humble. We still haven’t accomplished anything yet. Orange County is a going to be a difficult opponent. There will obviously be a little flavor because of the derby match, so we have a lot of work to do this week.”

LA GALAXY II MIDFIELDER MIGUEL AGUILAR

On his goal:
"The goal came off of a set piece. It’s something we worked on during the week. It’s something we were prepared for. It was my job to be at the back post. I was there and the ball got to me so I just kicked it in the back of the net. So it’s a huge three points at home. Especially in a game like today, where it was much of a soccer game, but it was more of a gritty fight and we were able to pull off the result.”

On scoring in back-to-back starts:
“It’s always great to get on the scoreboard. Especially because I’ve had an inconsistent year. So now that I’m finally starting to get some consistency in getting an assist or scoring…it makes my game that much better. Going into games with confidence and knowing that I’m able to do things like that gets me up for gameday.”

On what he expects to see from the team next weekend at home:
"Definitely keep the results coming and keep winning at home. Hopefully a little bit of a better match in terms of our technical and tactical performance. But the most important thing is the three points and however we can get them.”
