Post Game Quote Sheet: LA Galaxy II vs Orange County SC | June 10, 2018

Mike Munoz | June 10, 2018

LA GALAXY II HEAD COACH MIKE MUÑOZ

On how the team came out in the match:
“We know Orange County is a good team, an experienced team. It was crucial that we limited the chances that we had today, which I thought we did. We maybe gave up one good chance for them in the second half and obviously the corner kick set piece which we have to do better on. I thought it was a close game. I thought it was an even game. It could have gone either way. Orange County’s goalkeeper made a couple of great saves to keep them in it. At this level, it’s just about execution. They got one chance and they buried it.”

On what was missing in the team’s performance tonight:

“I think the guys were tired. Some of our guys have played a lot of games over the past couple weeks with the Open Cup, as well. We knew it was going to be tough. We were hoping to at least get a point out of that toward the end. But now we get a little time off to recharge the batteries and then we have two crucial games against Tulsa and OKC on the road.”

On what he will focus on in the upcoming break:

“Guys need to get their legs back. Guys need to reset their mindset. We’ll get back to being tough and being tough to play against and making sure that we execute the chances that we create.”

LA GALAXY II MIDFIELDER EMMANUEL APPIAH
On the team’s gameplan:

“I think we went out with the gameplan that coach gave us and we did well, but we just couldn’t finish. I think we took like ten chances the whole game. They were making good saves. I think we did what our coach wanted us to do, but we just couldn’t put it away.”

On what kept the team from scoring tonight:

“We got the shots. It was just one of those days where nothing was going right for us. Miguel [Aguilar] had four shots. Ethan [Zubak] had two or three. We just couldn’t put them away. It was one of those days. They got one or two chances and they put one away so it was just unfortunate. We just didn’t capitalize on our chances.”

On what he wants to see when the team takes the field again in two weeks:

“I want to see fresh bodies, see everybody ready to go again. We’ve played six or seven games in the past few weeks, so I think people need to get away from soccer then come back refreshed and get ready to go again.”
