Lineup Notes

  • Toronto FC and LA Galaxy face off for the first time this season in the Galaxy’s first trip to Toronto since 2016.
  • In his first game as Interim Head Coach, Dominic Kinnear trots out a different Starting XI than we saw in Salt Lake, with Romain Alessandrini and Bradford Jamieson IV starting in place of Michael Ciani and Servando Carrasco.
  • In net, David Bingham will get his 29th start of the MLS Regular Season, playing every single minute between the pipes this year for the Galaxy.
  • Rolf Feltscher returns from international duty to make his 11th start of the season. The right back went 60 minutes in Venezuela’s 2-1 loss to Colombia on Sept. 7.
  • Dave Romney will get the nod in central defense for his 21st start of the season. This will mark Romney’s 54th career start since making his MLS debut with the Galaxy in 2015.
  • Also in the middle is Jorgen Skjelvik, who has started every match this year from the Galaxy. Skjelvik will be the leading man in the four-man backline.
  • Veteran Ashley Cole will captain the side from the left back position. Cole has recorded seven assists on the campaign this season, second only to Zlatan Ibrahimović’s eight.
  • LA Galaxy’s Perry Kitchen will start in the holding midfielder role this week, making his 27th start of the season. Can Kitchen put the clamps on one of the league’s most dangerous attacking sides?
  • On the right, Romain Alessandrini returns to the starting lineup for the first time since Aug. 4 against Colorado Rapids in Colorado. Despite that, Alessandrini has scored in each of his last four appearances, including the Galaxy’s 6-2 loss to RSL, in which he scored in his first minute on the field.
  • On the inside right will be Bradford Jamieson IV, who makes his first start of the season since June 30. Jamieson IV has made five appearances and two starts for the Galaxy this season.
  • Beside him will be Jonathan dos Santos who returns to the Galaxy after featuring for Mexico in one of their two international friendlies. He played 45 minutes against Uruguay on Sept. 7. Dos Santos scored last time out with the Galaxy, in the first minute of play against RSL.
  • On the left is Ola Kamara, who has played in that position earlier in the season for the Galaxy. Kamara is one goal away from his 10th of the campaign, and what would be his third straight season of a double digit goal scoring tally in MLS.
  • Leading the way is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. What else needs to be said.

Game Notes

  • The Galaxy are 10-10-8 on the year, with 51 goals scored and 54 goals conceded.
  • The Galaxy are T-4th in MLS for goals scored this season.
  • This year on the road, the Galaxy have gone 4-6-4. Toronto FC are 5-6-2 at home in 2018.
  • LA Galaxy forward Zlatan Ibrahimović is just one goal shy of scoring 500 career senior goals between club and country.
    • Should Ibrahimovic score two goals, he would join Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the only two active players to reach 500 goals in their senior career.
  • Romain Alessandrini has scored in four straight appearances for the Galaxy.
  • The Galaxy are 3-1-5 when leading at halftime and 6-2-6 when scoring the first goal of the match.
  • Conversely, they are 4-7-1 when trailing at half and 4-8-1 when conceding first this year.
  • Heading into the weekend, LA Galaxy sit eighth in the Western Conference standings, three points off of 6th place.
