New LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese: "I will defend the colors with everything that is within me"

LOS ANGELES – New General Manager Dennis te Kloese has big plans for the LA Galaxy.

The Galaxy announced the hiring of the 44-year-old former head of the Mexican National Team program on Monday. Te Kloese joins the organization after spending the last 10 years working in Mexico with Tigres UNAL, CD Guadalajara and the Mexican Federation.

“Being a part of this family, of this club, is an honor and something that I’m excited about,” he told LAGalaxy.com.

"To be given this opportunity is something that I need to be very grateful and something I need to take advantage of. I’ve always been someone that works hard, and I will defend the colors with everything that is within me.”

As he gets down to business, te Kloese does not shy away from the challenge, admitting that while he does not intend to rebuild the club in his image, he’s willing to make changes to create a winner across the club.

“I think the club needs a strong identity. It needs to be clear what it stands for and where it goes,” te Kloese said. “In this instance, there always have big players and big personalities on the field. That is something positive and gives something extra to the club and the fans. On the other end, I’ve always strongly believed in this area, Southern California. There is a lot of talent here, and it is something that can be taken advantage of.”
