Galaxy II

Match Preview: LA Galaxy II vs. Sacramento Republic FC | Aug. 31, 2019

After a bye week, LA Galaxy II (8-8-9, 33 points) are back in action this weekend, set for a big match at home. They’ll face Sacramento Republic FC (10-10-4, 34 points), one of the ten teams – including LA Galaxy II – that sit in the middle of a tight race for a USL Championship Playoff spot. The ten teams occupying 5th place to 14th place are separated by just five points.
It’s been 13 days since Los Dos last took the field, doing so in a 2-2 draw away at New Mexico United on Aug. 17. An unforgettable debut goal from Mohammed Kamara and another tally from Augustine Williams extended a solid run of play for Los Dos, who have now lost only once in their last five matches.
Sacramento Republic are on the road again this weekend, looking to rebound from a 2-1 loss to Phoenix Rising FC last weekend. Republic FC scored in the second minute of the match, but Phoenix responded five minutes later, and took the lead for the final time just before the half.
Saturday is a chance for LA Galaxy II to get back to an even .500 record at home this season. Los Dos have had a disappointing summer in front of the home crowd – their last home win came on May 4 against Austin Bold.
