LA Galaxy II’s (10-9-9, 39 points) fight for postseason play continues this weekend, when Los Dos take on San Antonio FC (10-11-7, 37 points) at 7:30 p.m. PT on Friday, Sept. 20 at Dignity Health Sports Park Track & Field Stadium. With six matches remaining, LA Galaxy II and San Antonio FC are the last two teams inside the playoff line heading into the weekend.
Los Dos enter Friday’s contest having pulled ten points from their last five matches, part of stretch that vaulted LA Galaxy II back into postseason position. Galaxy II have missed the playoffs in each of their last two seasons, but Los Dos are trending towards their first postseason berth since 2016.
Leading the way for Los Dos’ last season surge has been Interim Manager Junior Gonzalez, who has recorded a 5-3-1 record since his takeover since July.
Set to face the Galaxy are a San Antonio team that defeated LA Galaxy by a score of 2-0 back in April, with goals from Ever Gonzalez and Bradford Jamieson IV. But San Antonio’s road form is less impressive, their 2-9-2 away record is one of the worst in the Western Conference. San Antonio have won consecutive games on only two occasions this year – a win against LA Galaxy II on Friday would be third after their 3-1 defeat of OKC Energy FC last weekend.
Lining up against LA Galaxy II will be forward Frank Lopez, whose 12 goals lead San Antonio FC this season.
