LA Galaxy Foundation hold third annual Shoes That Fit at Catskill Avenue Elementary

On November 1, the LA Galaxy Foundation hosted their third annual Shoes That Fit event at Catskill Avenue Elementary School. Shoes That Fit is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping kids improve their self-esteem by providing low-income youth with a pair of shoes so they can go to school in comfort and focus on their studies instead of their circumstances.

For this Galaxy Giving event, LA Galaxy staff and LA Galaxy Girls’ Academy adopted 100 elementary school students and outfitted them in brand new adidas athletic shoes.

The shoe distribution kicked off with Catskill Avenue Elementary School Principal, Suzanne Zopatti, and LA Galaxy Girls’ Academy player, Ashleigh Heely, greeting the Catskill students. After the welcome, the Girls’ Academy, Galaxy Star Squad, and Cozmo distributed adidas shoes and assisted the students with putting them on.

After the shoe distribution, students were able to play soccer in their new shoes with LA Galaxy Camps & Clinics coaches. Galaxy coaches warmed the students up with agility drills and then rotated the youth through five different technical stations. Once the clinic concluded, students said their goodbyes to the LA Galaxy Girls’ Academy players and grabbed their new Galaxy backpacks before going home for the day.
