Match Preview: LA Galaxy II set for road matchup against Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Friday

LA Galaxy II (5-2-7, 22 points) travel to Tulsa, Okla. in one of their longer road trips of the season to face Tulsa Roughnecks FC (2-9-1, 7 points) at 5:30 p.m. PT on Friday, June 17 at ONEOK Stadium. As part of a broadcast deal with ESPN announced earlier in the year, this match will be broadcast live on ESPN3. 


Tulsa Roughnecks FC, currently last place in the USL Western Conference, has allowed 28 goals in 12 games this season, the most in the USL. They’ve lost seven of their last eight matches and have lost the last five games they’ve played at ONEOK Stadium. Their most recent loss was a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Saint Louis FC.


After last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, Los Dos dropped to fourth in the Western Conference standings. With 22 points, they sit behind Rio Grande Valley FC (22 points, 6 wins), Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (23 points) and Vancouver Whitecaps FC (25 points).


Friday’s game is the first of two back-to-back matches scheduled with Tulsa Roughnecks FC; they’ll play each other again on June 24 at StubHub Center. This small stretch of schedule will provide LA Galaxy II a good opportunity to build confidence and return the top of the table.

LA Galaxy II 0 | Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC 0: LA Galaxy II (5-2-7, 22 points) drew 0-0 with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (7-2-2, 23 points) on Saturday night at the StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium. Los Dos’ best chance came in the 53rd minute when a rocket from Jack McBean stunned the crossbar. It was Los Dos’ fourth shutout of the season and their third at StubHub Center. It was only the second time they’ve been shutout in 2016.


Saint Louis FC 7 | Tulsa Roughnecks FC 1: Things got ugly for Tulsa in St. Louis last weekend. Tulsa went into the half down 3-0 and failed to tighten up in the second half, conceding four goals and earning their fourth straight loss. Less than a month ago, this same team hung five goals on Tulsa at home.
