CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Academy starlet Efrain Alvarez’s remarkable chip shot won the June LA Galaxy Goal of the Month competition presented by 76 Gas.

The 14-year-old’s goal was the runaway winner of the contest with more than 50 percent of the vote. Alvarez’s strike came in the 39th minute of the Galaxy’s Development Academy U-13/14 Showcase match against FC Dallas. Off a set piece, Alvarez received a pass in the penalty area and chipped a helpless Dallas goalkeeper for the goal.

Alvarez is the first Galaxy Academy player to win the Goal of the Month competition. He joins Robbie Rogers, Giovani dos Santos, and Jack McBean as winners of the award.
