BRADENTON, Fla. (Sunday, April 7, 2024) – In the Generation adidas Cup U-17 Final, the LA Galaxy Academy U-17s played the Philadelphia Academy U-17s to a 2-2 draw in regulation, but fell 5-4 in the penalty kick shootout on Sunday evening.
2024 Generation adidas Cup
In three group stage matches played in the Generation adidas Cup, the LA Galaxy Academy held an unbeaten record of 2-0-1. After advancing to the Knockout Stage of the tournament, the LA Galaxy Academy played to a 2-2 draw in regulation and earned a 5-4 penalty-kick shootout win over River Plate Academy in the Round of 16 on April 4. In the Quarterfinals, the Galaxy Academy earned a 1-0 win over the Sporting Kansas City Academy on April 5. In the Semifinals, the LA earned a 3-0 shutout win over the San Jose Earthquakes on April 6.

PHI – Diego Rocio, 31st minute: A failed clearance inside the box fell to D. Rocio, whose half-volleyed shot was fired into the back of the net.
LA – Dylan Vanney (Harbor Miller), 38th minute: Harbor Miller won the ball on the right touch line, drove towards the box and delivered a pass towards the top of the box to Dylan Vanney, whose low shot was fired through the Philadelphia goalkeeper’s hands.
LA– Adam Dunbar, 40th minute: Mathis Albert’s curling shot from the edge of the box was parried away by the Philadelphia goalkeeper into the path of Adam Dunbar, who smashed the rebound in from close range.
PHI – Cavan Sullivan, 47th minute: In transition, Cavan Sullivan converted a pass from inside the six-yard box.
